Anybody with a clean driving licence
can learn to become an instructor.
What We
Offer: We offer classroom based training and also
one to one tuition. The course is tailored to meet your
individual needs.
What You Will Need: You will need the following to
qualify to become an instructor:
A full UK (or in some cases
European EU/EEA unrestricted) driving licence which
has been held for more than a total of 4 years in
the last 6 years prior to entering the Register
after qualifying but a foreign, automatic or
provisional licence all count toward the 4 years,
Not have been disqualified from
driving at any time in the four years prior to being
entered into the Register,
Be a fit and proper person
Any convictions or motoring
offences still in force will be taken into account
when your suitability is assessed (subject to the
Rehabilitation Of Offenders Act 1974),
Pass the Register qualification
exam and register within 12 months of doing so.
The ADI Exam:
The ADI exam consists of three main parts:
A theory test constituting
of 100 questions relating to every aspect of
driving including the mechanics and design of a
car. The principles of instructions and the high
standard of knowledge of various publications
relating to general road safety. Immediately
following the test there will be a hazard
perception test consisting of 14 video clips
each lasting around 1 minute.
Consists of an eyesight
test and of driving technique. The test is an
advance driving test and of a very high standard
with routes covering a rang of road and traffic
conditions.
A practical test to asses
the quality of your instruction and ability to
pass your knowledge onto pupils.
